A fantastic opportunity has arisen for one of our blue-chip clients who are a global industrial and energy company; and also pioneers in innovation and sustainability. They are looking for a Civil Engineer to oversee a large-scale energy project in Suffolk.

As a Civil Works Engineer, you will be a vital contributor to the successful execution of construction projects, overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of various civil engineering aspects. Your role will include various responsibilities, from site assessment and project conceptualisation to ensuring quality construction and adherence to safety standards. Your expertise will drive the planning, design, and execution of civil engineering aspects, ensuring construction projects' safe and efficient realisation.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in civil engineering design, project management, and construction oversight.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex engineering challenges.
  • Proficiency in creating detailed engineering designs for various civil structures.
  • Skill in performing structural analyses and calculations using engineering software.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD), Building Information Modelling (BIM), MATLAB, etc.
  • Creating accurate and comprehensive designs for construction projects.
  • Evaluating the stability and load-bearing capacity of structures.
  • Developing strategies to meet project goals within budget and schedule.
  • Full working rights for the UK

What will you being doing?

  • Collaborate with project teams to plan and design construction projects based on specifications and regulations.
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings, plans, and schematics for various civil structures.
  • Conduct surveys and assessments to evaluate site conditions, soil properties, and environmental factors.
  • Analyse topographical data to inform site layout and construction approaches.
  • Select appropriate construction materials based on their properties and project requirements.
  • Coordinate the procurement of materials and ensure efficient resource utilisation.
  • Perform structural analyses to ensure structures' stability, safety, and load-bearing capacity.
  • Evaluate the structural integrity of, foundations, and other civil components.
  • Supervise and manage construction activities to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety protocols.
  • Monitor construction progress, identify potential issues, and implement timely solutions.
  • Implement quality control processes to ensure construction work meets specified standards and regulations.
  • Conduct inspections and tests on materials and artistry to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure construction projects adhere to local building codes, zoning regulations, and environmental requirements, ITPs and quality requirements.
  • Obtain necessary permits and approvals for construction activities.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, subcontractors, and professionals to coordinate project execution.
  • Communicate project updates, changes, and expectations to team members and stakeholders.
  • Assist in budget planning and monitor project expenses to ensure cost-effective construction.
  • Manage resources efficiently to prevent budget overruns.
  • Integrate sustainable and environmentally friendly practices into project designs and construction processes.
  • Minimise environmental impact through effective design and construction methods.
  • Identify and address technical challenges and construction-related issues as they arise.
  • Devise creative solutions to overcome obstacles and ensure project continuity.
  • Maintain accurate records of project progress, changes, and construction activities.
  • Generate technical reports, documentation, and drawings as required.
  • Prioritise safety by implementing and enforcing construction site safety protocols.
  • Engage with clients, address concerns, provide updates, and meet their expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Department.
  • Coordinate with the Batching Plant and Laboratory in order to perform the necessary inspections.
