Our Client is one of the leading consultancies specialising in Heavy Industry, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Nuclear, heavy processing plants in the area and have an excellent reputation in providing a high quality service with an excellent health and safety record.

They are looking for a Discipline Design Lead to lead and manage a team of design engineers. Experience in Instrument Design and Controls is important. All projects are mainly in minerals process engineering.

Some of the responsibilities include:

* Line management of the assigned discipline team
* Supervising and allocating work to engineers and designers and ensuring compliance to IMS procedures within the discipline team.
* Responsible for the administration and technical integrity of the output of the department and its compliance with CDM regulations.
* Responsible for the development and integration of relevant software design systems & departmental procedures.
* Liaison with the Engineering Manager with regard to workload and resource planning.
* Responsible for departmental recruitment and maintaining staffing levels to suit resource demands of the company.
* Support the engineering manager with discipline estimates and technical proposals associated with client enquiries.
* Delivery of discipline deliverables to meet programmes and within sanctioned budget working hour estimates.
* Assessment and identification of departmental competency training requirements and informing the Engineering Manager for implementation.
* Support the Engineering Manager in the composition of monthly engineering workload forecasts.
* Advising and guiding Engineers, Designers and Draughts persons including apprentices and graduates.
* Working to quality plan and IMS procedures.
* Interface with Lead Discipline/Senior Discipline Engineer on control and coordination of scope changes linked to discipline scope changes to base working hour estimates and deliverables.
* Interface with Lead Discipline/Senior Discipline Engineer on KHI engineering progress data and reporting, ensuring that weekly updating of the KHI engineering progress sheets is completed in a timely manner.
* Checking and approving specifications, calculations and drawings as necessary and where necessary preparing engineering specifications and calculations and other documentation as required.
* Liaising with Clients on engineering contracts and design services
* Implementation of approved quality procedures in the section including supporting the Engineering Manager with the review and update of the IMS procedures.
* Discipline Representative for sales support & Client presentations including business development.

Chartered Engineer is preferable, a degree in Engineering is essential.
