Electrical Estimator

Term: Initial 3-6 months

Location: Bristol, Swindon, Plymouth / Hybrid

Salary: Up to £60,000 FTE also happy to discuss a day rate

Role Overview:

As a Senior Electrical Estimator, you'll develop accurate estimates and manage bids for design and build projects, including large and complex major schemes. You'll ensure all client requirements and technical issues are fully considered, hold responsibility for option appraisals, and identify alternative solutions to enhance bid profitability and the delivery of value engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  •      Provide accurate take-offs and maintain a high level of competency when preparing prime cost estimates.
  •      Develop Value Engineering Proposals and provide innovation where applicable.
  •      Competently use Trimble Contract Master for preparing estimates.
  •      Manage client and key stakeholder requests professionally and promptly.
  •      Maintain accurate records of tenders submitted while interfacing with the Estimating Manager and our Work Winning / Procurement Operations teams.

What We're Looking For:

  •      Ability to prepare Schedule of Rates and "take off" quantities from drawings or bills of quantities.
  •      Previous experience within an electrical contracting environment.
  •      Strong commercial and business awareness to identify and recommend appropriate bid proposals.
  •      High motivation and accuracy, with excellent math and IT skills.

Technical Knowledge & Experience:

  • Building services
  • Knowledge of various Electrical installations ranging from 240V - 11kV
  • Main switchgear and sub distribution
  • LV Cable installation and jointing works
  • Controls & Instrumentation
  • Specialist subcontractors - understanding requirements for projects and vetting quotations from supply chain partners
  • Staff management and delivery team requirements on site
  • Testing & commissioning
  • Design and build capability with the ability to evaluate design scope gaps on tenders
  • HV knowledge
