Carbon60 are currently looking for multiple Electrical Design Engineers to join a client of ours based in Dumbarton on a 6 monthly contract.

These Electrical Design Engineer positions have become available due to increasing work loads. Our client design and manufacture power generators and thermal solutions.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Support electrical systems requirements capture & management, design, development, integration, validation and commissioning activities for the complete manufactured product range
  • Creation of technical specifications, functional design specifications and test procedures for electrical systems.
  • Develop and maintain electrical CAD platforms (EPlan) and continually improve design and release processes to ensure electrical deliverables meet the time, cost and quality needs of new product developments.
  • Create and maintain accurate Bill of Material and part specifications for efficient supply and assembly of manufactured products.
  • Contribute to writing electrical system sections of O&M Manual for End Users.
  • Engages in providing electrical engineering support to both manufacturing and the operating companies.
  • Provide SME support to major technical quality investigations.
  • Support OEM led RCA investigations, and act in the best interests of the company and hold them accountable to resolution where appropriate.
  • Ensures that the electrical engineering aspects of the products are selected, engineered and packaged to meet a variety of applications and environments, taking into account efficiency of operation, reliability, maintainability, flexibility and lifetime costs of ownership.
  • Develops the electrical engineering aspects of the existing product range to achieve operating and manufacturing improvements and to meet new needs in the marketplace. This includes adapting the products to meet entirely different applications and the needs of new business sectors.
  • Carries out technical liaison with key suppliers regarding the selection of components, their support in production and subsequently throughout the lifetime of the product.
  • Supports the improvement of HSE performance via product design and operational guidance ensuring safety is given top priority. Assists the Risk Assessment process for design and field issues.


The knowledge and skills you'll need to be successful:

  • Extensive electrical systems knowledge gained through equipment design experience.
  • Proficient in CAD systems. Knowledge of EPLAN P8, EPLAN Pro Panel, EPLAN Harness and AutoCAD is desirable.
  • Knowledge of engineering systems and processes - PLM systems (Enovia), MRP systems (M3), Engineering change control, international standards, component selection, and new product development processes.
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical controls (i.e. panel building and installation, generator controls. Motor control centres, drives etc)
  • Experience of electrical circuit and equipment specification and ability to produce design calculations for all aspects of electrical systems up to and including 13.8kV.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements to produce schematic and wiring diagrams and all part specifications of the electrical system.

This Electrical Design Engineer position is on a 6 month contract. They are looking for people to start ASAP.
