Mechanical Fitter/Winder
Salary: £16.40 - £17.99 p/h
Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 07:45 - 15:45 Mon - Thurs, 07:45 - 15:15 Friday.

Carbon60 are currently looking for either a Skilled Mechanical Fitter or Experienced Winder to join one of our global-leading engineering clients at their service centre in Birmingham.
The purpose of this role is to carry out dismantling/repair/assembly/test activities on various pieces of equipment that arrives in the service centre which includes but not limited to Motors, Gearboxes and pumps.
*Experienced winders will be requires to rewind motors, but mechanical fitters will be up-skilled and trained to carry out this activity

Responsibilities (But not limited to):

  • Operate specialised repair and testing equipment, as well as various standard hand-held power/non-power tools
  • Once trained to do so, carry out the dismantle/rewind/reassemble/test of conventional single/three phase AC/DC motors and associated mechanical equipment
  • Carry out all work and complete documentation in an efficient, professional and timely manner
  • Identify reclaimable parts and inspect renewed parts for abnormalities
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and report any potential hazards or risks


  • A recognised mechanical or electrical engineering/repair apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Previous demonstrable experience in either working upon various rotating mechanical equipment (Pumps, Gearboxes, Etc) or AC/DC Motor rewind/assembly/dismantling experience
  • Previous experience working within a workshop environment
  • Full UK driving license preferred
