Our client is a leading organisation dedicated to innovation, safety, and excellence in catalysis, precious metal products, chemicals and process technology. They are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical and Instrumentation Designer to join their dynamic team. This role is crucial to their continuous improvement efforts and supports their capital project developments.

As an Electrical and Instrumentation Designer, you will be responsible for creating and developing electrical and instrumentation design drawings, estimating costings, and assisting with troubleshooting for modifications and new installations. Your role will contribute to hazard studies, design reviews, and project reviews while ensuring the design meets the end user's requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Estimate costings for E/I design and installation.
  • Design and modify schematic diagrams, single line diagrams, loop drawings, cable routing drawings, and more.
  • Draft scopes of work, bill of materials, termination schedules, and other essential documents.
  • Support installation supervisors by providing design packs and technical assistance.
  • Conduct FATs on-site and at supplier locations.
  • Report work status to management through regular briefings.
  • Self-manage and prioritise design office requests.

Scope

  • Contribute to Hazard Studies, LOPA's, design reviews, and project reviews.
  • Obtain quotations and place orders for panel builds, instrumentation, and installation services.
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain technical data and support.
  • Host visits from suppliers.
  • Collaborate with on-site customers to ensure designs meet end user requirements.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience

  • HNC in Electrical Design or equivalent (Essential).
  • Significant practical design experience on a Top Tier COMAH site within a process or manufacturing environment (Essential).
  • Good understanding of P&ID's, line diagrams, process data sheets, and mechanical drawings (Essential).
  • Use of Trimble Pro Design for cable sizing and protection (Essential).
  • Competent in AutoCAD 2019 (Essential).
  • Working knowledge in low voltage power system design (Essential).
  • Working knowledge in instrumentation and control loop design (Essential).
  • Working knowledge of BS7671:2018 Requirements for electrical Installations and BS EN 61439 Low-voltage switchgear and control gear assemblies (Essential).
  • Working knowledge of DCS/PLC systems (Desirable).
  • Working knowledge of motor control systems (Desirable).
  • Working knowledge of safety systems and equipment, including Safety Instrumented Systems (Desirable).
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification (Desirable).
