Trainer - Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and HeatingWe are working with a small training company in Hertfordshire who are looking for a trainer to join their team. The trainer will be required to deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessment.The trainer will ensure that every learner is given the opportunity to achieve their full potential within a safe, stimulating and supportive environment, increasing knowledge and understanding of refrigeration, air conditioning and heating. The trainer will develop and use a range of effective and appropriate teaching techniques and materials to engage, motivate and inspire students as individuals.Duties and ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver high quality training, learning and assessment, with due recognition of the current syllabus and course specifications.Ensure that teaching is informed by contemporary research, scholarship, knowledge and professional practice. Keep up to date with relevant course subject matter, industrial/commercial developments, course examination/assessment requirements and legislation.Contribute to the development and maintenance of training aids, equipment, resources and teaching materials to meet course specifications and learning outcomes. Teach subjects across a range of qualification types and levels and to an appropriate timetable. Take a proactive role in the maintenance of standards of achievement, behaviour, discipline and punctuality.Set, assess, mark and monitor students work according to the procedures outlined by the appropriate awarding body. Oversee examinations and assessments.Plan additional support for students, as necessary.Contribute to team meetings to monitor, review and evaluate relevant courses.Take an active part in developing new subjects and courses, including all associated resources.Liaise with team members to ensure quality standards are met.Interview potential students and conduct diagnostic assessments as necessary.Organise and carry out learner assessments in the workplace, as appropriate .Positively contribute to a safe learning and work environment ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and Safeguarding policies and procedures.SkillsExcellent interpersonal, presentation and written and verbal communication skills.Skilled communicator capable of working methodically.Proven ability to work both effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative.Good organisational and time management skills.Good IT skills.Proven ability to motivate and inspire trainees .ExperienceSignificant and extensive knowledge working in the refrigeration, air conditioning and heating.Experience of working in both a commercial environment and the education sector.ValuesSelf-motivated and resourceful.Ability to work flexibly to meet changing needs.Commitment to own learning and development.Be willing to undertake training and development as required within the role.Strong work ethic, committed, reliable and conscientious.QualificationsQualified to a minimum of Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in refrigeration and air conditioning.Certificate in Education / PGCE / DTLLS or equivalent.Assessor / Internal Verifier Qualifications.KnowledgeGood knowledge of the latest industry trends/ techniques, specifically with refrigeration, air conditioning and heating.A passion for the subject, relevant knowledge and skills to inspire and motivate others.Knowledge of the priorities in vocational training.
