Mechanical Production Engineer:

JOB SUMMARY· To provide robust processes, ACSs (activity control sheets) and procedures, for the assembly and integration of ENS (earth, navigation and scientific) spacecraft.· Leading the design, manufacture and procurement of MGSE (mechanical ground support equipment) for use during spacecraft AIT.· Resolving non-conformance to the design · Involvement in the Technical Process / Process Improvement and R&D Initiative across all Airbus sitesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES· Support project DMU (Digital mock-up/design for manufacture) sessions to ensure design for manufacture. · Support in the creation of documentation required for the production phases, including ACS inputs, work instructions, and procedures.· Oversee and support integration activities on the spacecraft.· Managing mechanical non-conformance occurrence until successful resolution. Support quality reviews and Root Cause Analysis.· Support in the production of re-work instructions based on project requirements and identify parts and tooling required to carry them out.· Produce new processes, undertake process improvement and maintenance and monitor process implementation in operations.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT· Good understanding and detailed experience of mechanical systems. · Environmental testing (Vibration, Acoustic, Mass properties, Thermal)· Writing build documentation and resolving non-conformances from an AIT perspective. · Understanding of configuration control and as design as built status. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS· Able to work offsite (UK and abroad) for undefined periods at short notice· Work overtime and shifts is expected· Practical and proactive· Quality driven approach with high attention to detail· Knowledge and experience in the production of high quality documentation (such as assembly procedures, test specs, test plans, test procedures, AIT Plans, DDV plans)· Good problem solving skills (technical, logistics and organisational).· Good planning skills and process competence, (MRP system experience an advantage)· Good communication skills, both written and verbal.DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS· Experience of Lean engineering and MRP systems such as SAP· Optical alignment of equipment using theodolites· FMEA Experience· Knowledge of continuous improvement philosophies· Rudimentary understanding of RF properties and associated risks· Understanding of clean room practices would be beneficial.
