An excellent opportunity has arisen working for a Prestigious Aerospace Company based in Gloucester. The requirement is for an Engineering Programme Manager to work on a contract basis, picking up and working on existing packages of work and bids. It is anticipated that the contract will run for a minimum of 6 months, with a likely chance of extension.

Role Summary/Purpose: This role is responsible for all work associated with designing, qualifying and supporting projects within the Engineering Department. The position will require someone with a dynamic personality capable of delivering projects to scope, on time and within budget. The role will also provide the voice of customer within the engineering department by ensuring that resources are available to support project requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

 Take overall responsibility for developing an integrated project plan to meet project schedule commitments, support technical resource leaders to meet schedule commitments and deliveries

 Negotiate work scope & schedule with internal and external customers

 Ensure technical leads have resource plans which meet program needs

 Control and project spend, secure budget and spend authorization as required, track and report on metrics as required

 Manage technical requirements and ensure adherence to requirements, negotiate commercially on requirement creep where required

 Identify, manage and drive down project risks, drive risk mitigation actions, review status and maintain a comprehensive Risk Management Process, resolve or elevate issues

 Manage communications with customers at tech reviews, coordination meetings, etc.

 Drive ownership and accountability to functional managers and leaders

 Identify escapes and needed process improvements and communicate them

 Drive Technical Program Managers to ensure technical execution of all program commitments


 Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or qualified to an equivalent level

 Significant leadership experience in aerospace, preferably program managing major engineering programs

 Proficient in MS Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

 Experience of leading and working with teams

 Experience of New Product Introduction projects

 Experience of commercial negotiation

 Prepared to travel to customer facilities

 Experience of engineering rotating machinery

 Experience of requirements management

 Experience of technology development programmes

 Experience of Route Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) techniques

 Knowledge of airworthiness requirements

 Ability to stay calm in pressurized situations and coach people through solving problems

 Ability to identify and implement process improvements

 Working knowledge of lean or six sigma
