Electronics Design EngineerCarbon60 are working with a company developing ID card printing technologies in their search for an Electronics Design Engineer for their growing Engineering Team. Reporting to the Electronics Hardware Team Leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of the electronics for Card Printers and related products, including generating formal specifications, verification tests and production documentation for release.Key Responsibilities:· Responsibility for the specification and design of electronic and electrical hardware for products over their full life cycle, as well as maintenance of existing products. Includes component selection and evaluation, circuit schematic design and simulation, PCB layouts, design verification and validation. · Generation of engineering documentation to the appropriate standard. · Responsibility for ensuring EMC compliance on new designs, including working closely with EMC test houses in order to achieve certification on new products and maintaining certification for existing products. · As part of the hardware team, to provide support to production for the testing of new electronic/electrical assemblies and troubleshooting production issues. · As part of the hardware team, to provide electro-mechanical design support in the development of new products with regards to the manufacturing, assembly and test. · To liaise closely with other electronics manufacturing companies with regard to building and production test of PCB assemblies. This includes responsibility for collating and releasing complete PCB assembly drawing sets, the resolution of manufacturing issues, the design of test equipment and/or the specification and generation of self-test firmware for PCB assemblies. · To liaise closely with the purchasing department to ensure that costs are optimised and suppliers are selected appropriately. · Implementation of and adherence to QA system and quality ethos. Skills:· High speed digital design including USB, SPI, I2C and Ethernet · Analogue design to 1MHz, motor drivers and sensor interfacing · Switching power supplies and regulators · NFC - RFID · Mixed signal Schematic design capture and PCB layout · Design for EMC; knowledge of design techniques for minimising radiated and conducted emissions · Hardware design for embedded control systems · Computer literate · Communication and documentation skills essentialAdvantageous but not essential skills:· Experience of Linux embedded systems and ARM Microcontrollers · Experience of FPGA and CPLD devices and firmware · Pulsonix CAD experienceQualifications:Degree qualification, in a relevant subject, e.g. Electronics, Electronics Engineering or HNC/HND with design experienceThe company offers a range of benefits and to opportunity to join a growing Engineering Team.
