Client: Leading British Retailer

Location: Central London

Role: UX / UI Designer

Duration: 3 month initial contract

Rate: £350 per day

Our client is looking for an experienced UX & UI Designer to join their online team and work on new business propositions. The ideal candidate will be immediately available, with an online portfolio displaying their most recent work.

Key responsibilities

  • Communicate and validate designs early using sketches, user journeys, content hierarchy, prototypes and low/ high fidelity wireframes
  • Run stakeholder, customer journey mapping and shaping workshops to understand the business and customer requirements & objectives
  • Capture and analyse user intelligence to support decisions. (Heuristic analysis, usability testing, card sorting, surveys)
  • Create user personas to guide design via empathy mapping, user journeys that help to inform ideas through research, testing and team sessions
  • Maintain an inclusive user-centred design approach
  • Develop and deliver improvements with interaction and architecture within an Agile development process
  • Manage work effectively and deliver within deadlines
  • Improve the quality of the user experience through design, information presentation and flow
  • Interpret brand identity guidelines for web and mobile apps
  • Understand and harness the limitations and opportunities of each platform being designed for e.g. native apps, websites, responsive design
  • Regularly present final ideas and solutions, talking through whole customer journeys and design decisions
  • Run design sketching sessions and design sprints to validate ideas early with product owners, developers and other team members
  • Collaboration is key especially in a fast-paced design and build cycle
  • Make complex information understandable and formulate design concepts that are engaging, attractive, and user-friendly


  • Strong communication skills
  • Proactive and pragmatic in their approach
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively towards very strict guidelines
  • Uses Sketch, Axure or equivalent prototyping tools, Photoshop and Zeplin
  • A good understanding of Accessibility design tools that help with design decisions

Desirable skills

  • HTML/CSS understanding
  • iOS/Android Screen reader understanding


  • You must have a strong portfolio demonstrating both your UX and UI design skills
  • You must be familiar with mobile first design approach
