Our client is a world leader in the design and manufacture of satellite systems. Their activities cover complete civil and military telecommunications and Earth observation systems, science and navigation programmes, together with avionics and a wide range of space equipment and associated ground infrastructure.

They are recruiting for a Power Systems Engineer to contribute technical and engineering expertise into the development and delivery of fit for purpose power sub-system solutions for recurring production and operation of a UAV.

This role is initially for 6 months and will be based in Farnborough, Hampshire.

As a Power Systems Engineer you will work as part of a multidisciplinary product engineering team and with the wider UAV aircraft system and sub-system teams.

You will work on one or more of the following:

Responsible for the functional and performance aspects of design solutions; including supporting wider design trade-off activities with respect to quality, risk and cost.

Provide Power System technology expertise into the definition of effective engineering plans of work and end user instructions.

Act as design authority for power sub-system design solutions as formally delegated by the UAV System Design Authority.

Provide technical support to UAV system level teams in the overall optimisation of the UAV RPAS capability.

You will have detailed knowledge of the following:

Direct experience with analysing/evaluating battery technology designs and data, in particular in the field of advanced Lithium based chemistry batteries.

Proven experience of developing new product solutions for cutting edge applications.

Experience in the application of DFx during development is desirable.

Knowledge of data analysis software (e.g. MATLAB) is desirable.
