Our client has a new opportunity for a Design for Manufacturability Engineer to join them on a permanent basis.
Based just outside of High Wycombe, our client develops electromechanical control and tracking systems used in land, sea and air defence applications. The DFM Engineer will ensure that products are designed in a manner that suits customer and budget requirements without compromising on quality.
As a DFM Engineer, your role would be to:· Liaise with Engineering to ensure product designs are manufacturable through careful material selection, thorough understanding of customer requirements and application of design principles including DFM and Geometric Tolerancing· Ensure that the manufacturing suppliers are aware of, and adhere to, set KPIs and reporting processes· Analyse suppliers test and production capabilities · Take corrective actions where products have failed prototyping or pilot trials.· Identify new, innovative opportunities within product development that could be taken advantage of
In order to be successful in this role, you must:· Possess knowledge of the principles of Design for Manufacture· Understand the manufacturing engineering process within a product development environment· Have the ability to design electromechanical components and assemblies· Ideally have knowledge of aerospace materials including metals, plastics and composites
