Our client is a leading developer of Sonar and Acoustic technology and products used across various industries. They are looking for a NPI Engineer to work closely with Production, Engineering and Quality in the design stage and Preproduction manufacture of new products. You will be first point of contact for all preproduction issues, reviewing of new production documentation, optimising production processes, recording and removing production risks, creating step by step build and test documentation to promote right first time approach and ensure design for manufacture and design for test best practice is adopted on all new designs.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Act as First Point Of Contact for all pre-production issues and communication bridge between Production and Engineering design teams in the areas listed below
  • Writing/updating detailed build books and Test work instructions to standardised manufacture and test processes
  • Identifying Technical Change, Troubleshooting/investigating issues and managing change through to resolution
  • Working closely with the quality team to proactively identify, raise and resolve quality issues with products, production procedures and product test jigs/equipment
  • Working with Quality and Production to manage FMEA reviews and resulting actions
  • Working with Engineering, NPI and production to manage Pre-production and Productionisation reviews and resulting actions
  • Support automation and other waste reduction initiatives
  • Implement engineering changes resulting from NPI phase, consulting design authority and all other required stakeholders
  • Assist Quality department in Quality Metrics and Statistics/ Reporting
  • Carry out Obsolescence reviews for new PCB designs to assist Engineering in reducing the risk of obsolescence
  • Working closely with Production staff to utilise production knowledge and ensure manufacturing best practice identified
  • Working with compliance engineer to carry out environmental testing validation of new designs before release to production

Qualifications

  • Preferred ONC or HNC in electronic / engineering discipline and/or relevant experience in electronics manufacturing environment

Experience in some of the following areas is required:

* Focus on lean / waste reduction (Six Sigma)

* A working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and Engineering drawings

* Reviewing BOM's

* Proven track record of diagnostic fault finding down to component level

* New Product Introduction (NPI) Continuous Improvement

* Design for Test/Manufacture (DFT, DFM)

* Working with ERP system

* Interrogating Schematics

* Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA)

* Use of Quality tools: 8D, Root cause analysis, 5y's, etc.
