Senior Mechanical Engineer

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will help GHD on their mission to make water, energy and urbanisation sustainable for generations to come. You will play a key role on supporting a future that genuinely benefits everyone.

This role is based in our UK based offices, located in Newcastle, York, Leeds, Manchester, Chester, Nottingham, London, or Guildford; but there's no borders when it comes to the project, you'll work with our team regularly working with our clients in Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East and beyond. Think of it as gaining international experience from your own backyard.

You will help achieve this mission by:

  • You are likely to work on a portfolio of different projects and will apply your acquired skills and knowledge in a range of environments.
  • Successful contribution to and delivery of projects in a team environment,
  • Personal responsibility and ownership of projects
  • Technical and commercial delivery
  • Management, liaison, and co-ordination of the Technicians in the team
  • Production of deliverables to programme timescales
  • Supervision, knowledge sharing and mentoring of less experienced members of the team
  • Interpretation and application of relevant client, industry and GHD standards

You will need:

  • Knowledge of some or all of the following: Process plant, Rotating Equipment, Pumping Systems, Steam Systems, Clean and waste water systems (clarification, filtration, disinfection, sludge handling etc), Detailed pipework design, Pipework stress analysis.
  • Experience of programming and resource planning as well as the ability to prepare, review and approve calculations, reports, drawings, and design briefs relating to pipe work and process plant installations.
  • Application of Engineering principles
  • Design Development
  • Honours degree in relevant discipline required
  • Chartered Engineer or near Chartered status (MICE, MIStructE).
