Ideally, respective candidates will have a proven background in PLC and SCADA Control System solutions, with an emphasis on software, component and system test activities either as an in-house test engineer or as a technician supporting a production/development environment within a regulated industry. The V&V engineer will work as part of a multi-disciplined project team under direction of the project delivery management and V&V leadership to effectively and efficiently conduct the responsibilities listed below:

Key Responsibilities

Conduct V&V activities as assigned by V&V and Delivery Management

Conduct compilation and issue of management plans, processes and development estimates

Conduct designs V&V activities in compliance with approved management plans, using approved design methods, competent personnel, effective delivery systems and design processes

Support the software team in conducting test activities for PLC/SCADA Software/Systems to include:

Software Unit Testing

Component Integration Testing

System Integration Testing

Provide regular feedback to V&V Team lead and Delivery Management

Design Estimate compilation and review

Support risk reviews, programme reviews and design reviews

Maintain and promote best practice for V&V activities in accordance with Industry standards.

Facilitate own deliverables review and configuration with respect to the applicable programme/corporate plans

Fault/Issue reporting

Support implementation of Project & office security measures

General Operational duties

Support the Lead V&V Engineer in providing a professional and engaged team.

Attend Business Management department meetings as required.

Remain compliant with all applicable Business Management Processes and procedures.

Understand and apply all policies, processes and procedures around people management, compliance and governance.

How you will make a difference

Essential qualifications / competency requirements

Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic engineering or a related discipline e.g. C&I engineering, Systems engineering

Production of technical documentation

Experience of PLC/SCADA Control Systems and their respective engineering development tools

Understanding of commissioning and setting to work.

Experience of planning and conducting V&V Systems/Software activities within a Systems Engineering lifecycle

Reporting test metrics,

Experience in defining Software and Systems test requirements, procedures and test equipment

Proficient using laboratory test tools (e.g. multi meter, oscilloscope, logic analyser, data capture and analysis)

Fault diagnostic skills including fault identification and reporting

Proactive and shows initiative.

Organised and capable of managing own tasks.

Good mathematical knowledge and analytical ability.

Strong IT skills, in particular with MS Office products.

British national and citizen. Able to obtain Security Clearance (SC).

Desirable qualifications / competencies

Experience in the use of test management tools

Industrial Ethernet based communication protocols and networking standards.

The use of OA (Open Architecture) toolsets as an end user or within a development environment

Understanding of Functional Safety (BS EN 61508, 61511 or 62061).

Experience of Configuration Management Systems and Change Control Procedures.

Experience within defence, maritime, aerospace, or a similarly regulated industrial sector.

Ship's machinery and control systems.

An understanding of Systems Engineering practices and philosophies (MBSE)

Other requirements

Travel requirements: Occasional UK travel may be required to attend team/customer meetings and training activities

Clearance requirements: Post-holder must hold and maintain UK Government clearances where required

Able to work flexible work patterns that may include shift or weekend working.
