My client requires a Building Control Officer to ensure high standards in the interest of health and safety in the construction of buildings across the borough assuming a full range of powers formally delegated to the post by the Council. This is a part time interim position lasting for an initial six months.
Your duties are to ensure excellent and efficient delivery of a complete local authority building control service through working as part of a team. To ensure building work complies with Building Control Legislation and the Councils Building Control Policy by carrying out site inspections and plan appraisal. Carry out Building Control inspections of all types of development under construction to ascertain compliance with Building Regulations.A stipulation for the role is that you must be a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors OR equivalent qualification, plus evidence of continuing professional development.Appraise independently, both building construction of all types in a specific area of the Borough to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and relevant Council policy. Assimilate and implement new legislation affecting building regulationAppraise new building materials to ensure suitability in the construction of buildings and compliance with statutory requirements.Maintain daily records to safeguard the Council and its staff against claims for negligence in carrying out the statutory function to include making complete and accurate records of all inspections carried out.
