JOB PURPOSE: To manage, control and lead all aspects of the Access business across the Aberdeen area. Be accountable for the Operational, Commercial, Business Development and Financial delivery of the branch in line with the UK Business Plan.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
Deliver Revenue and Profit in line with the Budget
Develop and shown sustainable growth of the hire and sales business
Drive the Sales Team to; generate sufficient enquiries in the targeted market sectors.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Overall responsibility for the financial performance of the location covering scaffolding and hire and sales
Develop hire and sales customers and margins in line with the budget and business plan.
Full P&L accountability for the defined geographical area, controlling costs within agreed budgets. Lead the sales and operational teams to continuously improve and develop all aspects of their service offering. Focus on developing competency, improving efficiency and productivity in accordance with the business plan.
Monitor and report monthly all agreed Key Performance Indicators.
Manage and lead the branch team in accordance with the business plan to achieve the best results
Yard & Transport
Maximise the productivity of HGV vehicles and ensure external haulage costs are kept to a minimum in line with budget.
Ensure that 100% of transport costs are fully recovered within the monthly billing Manage internal workshop and yard functions in accordance with company procedures and industry health and safety legislation.
Establish target customer base for hire and sales and develop in to a stable and consistent platform
Hold weekly sales meetings and target sales team and estimator with specific objectives in line with the business plan
Drive and lead regular reviews of the sales pipeline to ensure the business achieves the budgeted top line revenue. Control and conduct regular reviews of hire and sales quotations, project estimates and design proposals.
Ensure suitable contract and customer vetting is completed for all new customers and contracts and the company is suitably protected in pre order/contract contractual negotiations.
Promote customer care at all times and respond positively and promptly to customer complaints.
Strive to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction and ensure all aspects of the business deliver on our customers requirements and deliver on_ their expectations.
Health & Safety
Maintain and continuously improve a strong health & safety culture in line with business and legislative guidelines.
Effectively lead and manage all staff, ensuring appraisals are carried out, personal development is achieved and standards of discipline and personal conduct meet the company's exacting standards.
Lead, develop, coach, promote and where necessary recruit 'best in class' members of the team who will excel in their respective roles.
Maintain and promote teamwork and encourage cross business fertilisation where possible.
Manage any restructures and downsizing of sites, including redundancy processes. Chair employee disciplinary and grievance hearings and make appropriate decisions.
Ensure all company systems and procedures have been installed and maintained.
Ensure all hire and sales transactions are complete in line with company procedures
Ensure billing is accurately completed and processed on time.
Ensure procedures, resources and processes are in place for effective cash collection
Key Working Relationships
Internal: Responsible to senior management team for carrying out instructions/ directions, in an efficient and timely manner. Maintaining strong links to the Regional Manager and support functions.
External: Responsible for achieving high level of customer satisfaction through strong working relationships with all key personnel working for our customers, and managers.
Qualifications & Managerial Experience
Knowledge of the hire and sales business able to demonstrate previous hands on experience
Previous experience in Branch Management - preferably within the construction industry and hire and sales.
Previous experience in managing multiple business streams, teams and exposure to hire and sales and the scaffolding / access industry would be beneficial.
Previous experience in the bulk sales market
Experience in managing a large, complex, labour intensive, customer- facing operations
Experience of successfully running a large profit and loss trading statement
Must be an energetic leader; robust and determined
Effective communicator, with sound planning and organising skills.
Strong negotiation and influencing skills
A clear understanding of the attributes and benefits of good leadership to achieving successful business and individual performance.
Indepth understanding of business objectives and_ strategy, possessing the skills required to deliver these within budget.
Flexible attitude to working hours to allow the business to meet its customer commitments and business targets.
