Our client, a leading global services company has a contract requirement for -

Job title : Lead Buyer/Planner

Duration: June 2018 possible longer

Responsible to : Materials Manager

The Role:

Be critical member of the materials management team, being responsible for procuring material/services at the right quantity, at the right time and as per specification at the lowest overall cost to the business from a pre-defined base of suppliers.

Make critical decision on how to fulfil requirements and how inventory levels are impacted. Maintain day to day communication with suppliers, develop relationships, track and improve supplier performance, drive vendor recovery, organize and track inbound shipment.

Establish production plan that meets the customer's request date, while ensuring lowest overall cost to the business.

Provides information to the business on status and projected results based on the plan vs. actual.

Responsibilities will include:

Shortage and inventory reduction via development and deployment of replenishment strategy. Manage/negotiate with suppliers (internal/external), improve performance and implement early warning indicators.

Analysis of supply base and recommendations for cost out

Root cause analysis of shortages and driving actions

Analysis and improvement of existing processes

Raise and manage MOs, WOs and POs

Maintain relevant sections of ERP

Learn and apply lean tools

Production scheduling

Vendor recovery

Essential Criteria:

In depth experience of ERP systems' planning and/or procurement modules

Proven analytical & structured approach to problem solving

Confident use of excel including functions, pivot tables

Proven use of statistical tools to identify and drive process improvement

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment or independently on multiple projects with strict completion deadlines.

Good writing skills, accuracy and an eye for detail

Demonstrated time management capability

Drives and embraces change

Fluency in spoken and written English

Desirable Criteria:

OMLP graduate

Degree in industrial engineering or other engineering field

Green Belt

NCA Trained

CPIM

Able to use VBAor macro in excel

A motivated, go getter.

Job Type : Full-time Contract

This will be an hourly rate based on a salary of between £30,000.00 to £32,001.00 per year

Job Type: Contract

Salary: £16.00 to £17.00 /hour
