Our Client is the leading concrete frame contractor in the UK with many prestigious projects and is continuing to thrive in this market. They are looking for an Estimator or a Senior Estimator to help within their Business Development and Bid Management Team.Reporting to the Managing Estimator, the purpose of the Estimator is to compile estimates of how much it will cost to provide a client or potential client with products or services. The estimating role is key to securing the pipeline of work for the region, achieving or exceeding our turnover targets.
* Identify potential value engineering solutions * Take part in the negotiation of bids * Measure and quantity take-off from drawings, using Bluebeam or CAD measure * Produce Bills of Quantities, following the applicable method of measurement * Source and analyse sub-contractor and material quotations * Review and understand the scope of works, drawings, specifications, and programme * Produce tender report in preparation for tender adjudication * Take part in mid-bid, tender review, and adjudication/settlement meetings with Estimating & Operational leads * Attend client meetings, including mid-bid, pre/post contract interviews * Take part in and encourage knowledge sharing and upskilling across the teamTechnical Skills and Experience: * Experience in all or some of the following project types; bulk earthworks, groundworks, substructure, paving, roadworks, drainage, and RC Frames * Experience and understanding of applicable methods of measurement, typically SMM7 * Electronic measuring use Bluebeam, CAD measure, or similar * Proficient in Microsoft officeThe below is preferred but not essential: * Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Construction Management * Experience using Estimating software; Causeway or similarPersonal Skills and Attributes: * Numerically minded with a sound commercial acumen * Highly developed organisational and time-management skills - proven ability to meet project deadlines, plan and prioritise workload and delegate effectively * Ability to communicate with clarity, impact and influence, understanding and utilising appropriate communication for different audiences * A problem solver - anticipates, identifies, and articulates issues, presents effective solutions and highlights benefits * Champions and embraces change and readily adapts in the pursuit of continuous improvement * Builds relationships based on trust and integrity, with strong interpersonal skills * Demonstrates personal accountability and ownership
