
This role is available to a contractor or as a permanent employment position.We are looking for a Site Agent to be based in Great Yarmouth for one of our long-term partners. You will be reporting directly to the Project Manager, with around 2-3 direct reports of your own, assisting in delivering the site with a value of £12m. Responsible for planning, programming, ordering materials, construction of the works, managing subcontractors, monitoring commercials and managing within budget, ensuring client and stakeholder satisfaction, and monitoring progress.With over 130 years of experience in the construction and engineering sector, our client is a trusted partner of central and local government and are used to working closely with their customers and supply chain to achieve outstanding results.The Highways and Transport division has a business plan involving year on year increase in turnover/delivery and are winning a fair share of work. We would like to see the chosen candidate secure a permanent long-term post with this client. There is potential for larger projects and a higher level of responsibility in the future. Also, opportunities to get involved in advising on work-winning and bidding.Role Summary To ensure the successful completion of projects for the Company by achieving acceptable financial outcomes, whilst maintaining and improving client relationships, and adherence to the quality/safety/environmental policies of the business.Duties
- Resource allocation and management of Site staff.
- Reporting to the senior Manager on Department budget control procedures for contracts and progress against programme.
- Ensure safe systems of work and the Company Safety Policy are practiced.
- Enforcement and monitoring of the Division's Quality Assurance and Env systems.
- Management of projects/contracts.
- Motivation of staff.
- Communication at all levels regarding progress of projects.
- Staff recruitment.
- Directly supervise Sub Agents, General Foreman.
- Indirectly supervise Site Engineer, Foreman and Gangers.
Required certs / quals:
- CSCS Black / White card
- SMSTS (5 day)
- First Aid at Work (4 day)
- Essential Civil Engineering/Building qualification
- Chartered status or approaching
- Preferred BSc Degree in Civil Engineering
- Holds a UK driving licence
- DBS check - we can arrange once job has been offered if you do not already have one
- BPSS Security Clearance - we can arrange once job has been offered
Required knowledge / experience:
- Has held a similar position - civil/marine engineering.
- Possesses proven experience on challenging and diverse projects with major clients.
- Proven experience from engineering background demonstrating progress to Site Agent through career development with both theoretical and practical experience.
- Specialist knowledge/competences.
- Knowledge of the construction process.
- Awareness of quality and environmental practices within the business environment.
- Sound safety theoretical and practical knowledge/experience.
- Commercially and contractually aware.
- Sound technical knowledge.
