Role - Process Safety Engineer

Duration - 6 months + Possible Extension
Rates - £50 Hourly Rate Inside IR35
Description:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll be part of an inclusive and high performing team, encompassing multiple disciplines and departments, with an emphasis on Process Safety governance in Project Engineering Design Development.
Our client have a diverse portfolio of projects in the pipeline including:
1. Conventional CCGT/OCGT 2. Carbon Capture Technologies 3. Biofuels 4. Hydrogen generation, storage and use. 5. Ammonia generation, storage and use.
Our client are seeking support to ensure that the process-related safety, health and environmental risks associated with these technologies are robustly managed across our Large Capital Projects. Our client currently adopts the ABB SHEG13 approach to process safety management.
We are seeking support on an ongoing basis to ensure that the risks are:
1. Identified 2. Understood 3. Mitigated, and 4. Managed
Anticipated input may include:
1. Input to initial technology optioneering 2. Definition of necessary process safety studies 3. Attendance at process safety studies 4. Review and acceptance of contractor-delivered safety studies 5. Track, review and resolve actions from Process SHE studies 6. Engagement with subject matter experts from both within SSE and external to provide advice and guidance on relevant safety standards, regulations and legislative frameworks. 7. Identification, specification and management of 3rd party specialist safety, health and environmental studies 8. Coordination of process-related SHE expertise; including the sites, TEAM technical authorities, design contractors and consultancies. 9. Developing process-related SHE requirements in Contract specifications 10. Input to technology qualification process
Candidate is to provide independent advice across a range of projects being progressed with a range of contractors and consultants.
