Material Controller

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Material Controller at a renowned Defence company. You will have the accountability for the management of materials activities ensuring delivery against agreed budgets and performance objectives. The role has direct control of the materials that fall within designated projects as well as management of the relationships and performance of the suppliers.

We are looking for a Material Controller to join a defence company that specialises in the conversion of commercial vehicles to armoured vehicles with military applications.

Due to the nature of the company, we are looking for someone to support the Procurement team to ensure material is delivered on time, with the right quantity in line with project and company's operational requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Take responsibility for the management of project demand and supply of the given project requirements.
• Be considered the subject matter expert across Material Control activities, to support the Procurement team with supplier selection.
• Act as a proxy in absence of the Materials Manager.
• Working alongside the Production Planning team, schedule material in to support the build plan, and at the same time maintain optimal inventory levels.
• Maintain an organised open order book.

Requirements:

• CIPS/APICS qualified or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in SAP or similar ERP system
• Extensive experience of material control in a manufacturing, engineering and production environment essential
• Experience in purchase order scheduling and expediting essential
• Able to manage demanding external and internal stakeholders.

Working the hours of Monday - Thursday: 7:30am - 4:30pm - Friday: 7:30am - 2pm

As this organisation works on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, all candidates will need to hold sole British Citizenship and will need to be able to pass a self-funded basic DBS (criminal record check)

The role is inside IR-35 so we will be unable to engage with LTD companies
