We are looking for someone to to accurately work to quality standards and procedures which are set out in the Company Quality Management System to ensure that electrical parts conform to drawing/specification requirements (including accompanying certification), are fit for purpose and compliant with applicable standards. Your responsibilities To undertake comprehensive inspection of PCBS, cables and electro-mechanical assemblies from sub-contractors and in-house manufacture ensuring parts meet drawing requirements. To undertake patrol inspection of the assembly and test production areas ensuring that a high level of workmanship is maintained across all areas. To identify inaccuracies with component quality and drawings and report them in a timely manner. Issues need to be captured on the in-house Observation Report System which is used as an escalation tool highlighting any problems with the appropriate engineer. This ensures that issues caused by such inaccuracies are resolved quickly and efficiently. To ensure that the correct paperwork is accompanying the materials/components being inspected. This will involve checking the corresponding documentation for what certification is required. To undertake checks on coils, cables and battery packs (and potentially other assemblies), including ensuring that there is no visual damage, that the crimp joints (where applicable) and the labelling is correct. On occasion, there may be a requirement to test batteries and simple PCBs. However, this will be under supervision until full training has been given. To prioritise work from internal production areas and external subcontractors/suppliers. This responsibility sits outside of the automated priority list which includes short notice requests from production control. To ensure that the Company's ERP Electronic Resource Planning (Syspro) system is kept up to date with the results of inspection activities and that reject notes are prepared and circulated, as required. To authorise products as "fit for despatch" and ensure that relevant staff involved in the despatch process are aware of the key sign-off requirements and procedures. To conduct all work activities, at all times, in a safe manner in strict accordance with legislation and Company Health & Safety policies and safe working procedures, escalating unsafe conditions or practices to Management for immediate attention and actively participating in promoting a culture of 'safety first'. To understand and comply with all Company Policies and Procedures - specifically H & S, Quality, IT. To contribute to the continuous improvement of the Quality Department and wider Operations department through the identification of potential changes and initiatives aimed at increasing productivity, efficiency and improving the overall team and department's function. The ideal candidate will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:Essential: Full colour vision - essential. Good manual dexterity. Ability to lift equipment, For heavier items appropriate lifting equipment will be available. Ability to work with a variety of IT packages Ability to understand and interpret detailed and technical drawings and parts lists. Knowledge and experience of compterised stock control and MRP systems, i.e. SYSPRO Knowledge and experience of process control techniques/surface mount and through-hope technology relating to PCB assemblies Knowledge of electrostatic dissipative devices (ESD) requirements is essential. Educated to GCSE or equivalent standard including Maths and English.
