Design Coordinator

We are currently looking for an experienced Design Coordinator to work with one of our trusted partners on a contract basis. This is an exciting project opportunity, working on designing and constructing two state of the art firing ranges for the Ministry of Defence. The Design Coordinator we are looking for will be responsible for ensuring that the client can obtain both practical and economic solutions that are also procurable. We are looking for someone to get involved and roll their sleeves up, working with the Designer, the Subcontractor and the Clients team. The contract is Design & Build, so the majority of the questions sit with the Designer. Our client is a leading UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fit out company. They deliver vital projects across a range of sectors including health, education, highways, justice, defence, aviation, water and environment. As a UK regional contractor, they provide specialist design and build capabilities and are experienced at project management and integrating all aspects of a project. With over 130 years of experience in the construction and engineering sector, they are a trusted partner of central and local government and are used to working closely with their customers and supply chain to achieve outstanding results.Main Duties:

• Work alongside the Design Manager in assisting them with the design and sign off various projects around site.
• Obtain both practical and economic solutions that are also procurable.
• Liaise and work closely with the Designer, the Subcontractor and the Clients team.
• Attend design team meetings.
• Track meeting actions and follow up.
• Work with subcontractors and technical consultants to ensure work is delivered in a timely and economic manner.
• Report progress to ensure the Design programme is followed.
• Review information, drawings and specifications.
• Help co-ordinate the design functions to ensure completion.

Required experience/qualifications/certs (essential):

• Design & Build contract experience
• Experience working with a tier 1 main contractor
• Must be able to attend site in Colchester 5 days per week
• Design role for project(s) of a similar size and complexity
• Good eye for detail, confidence to challenge drawn information to improve detailing, buildability to create efficiencies
• Ability to obtain DBS check (can be arranged upon offer)
• Ability to obtain BPSS security clearance (can be arranged upon offer)

Preferred experience/quals/certs:

• Asite
• Experience working on Government sites / Ministry of Defence / Ministry of Justice
