Only apply if you are a sole British National due to Security Clearances My client is an international market leader in defence relating to Naval programmes.Role A key member of the Engineering team, this role covers both Hardware & Software Configuration Management within one of our major programmes along with support to the Configuration Management Practice Lead to improve the overall Configuration Management practices across the wider Defence Operating Unit throughout the UK. The focus is to provide Configuration Management Leadership to enable the programme to meet the requirements of our customers and provide mentorship to other members of the team within all areas of Defence.Key Responsibilities * To ensure Configuration Management processes and plans are compliant to standards. * To carry out internal and external auditing against process. * To support in identifying tooling (Windchill/SAP) upgrades and manage licensing with vendors. * To ensure change management principles are applied to all controlled data. * To support in ensuring configuration management and planning responsibilities are carried out during each lifecycle stage of any given program. * To ensure Configuration Baselines are maintained as per standards and the requirements of any specific system. * To ensure product definitions are correctly identified. * To deliver configuration status accounting responsibilities such as metrics. * To represent Configuration Management within the organisation. * To chair configuration management meetings such as CCB's. * To identify transversal activities ensuring constant development. * To perform under pressure in Audits both external and internal. * To lobby stakeholders and sell the benefits of Configuration Management within an organisation. * To Manage Software Configuration Management Activities and Requirements.Person Specification * Demonstrated functional knowledge of hardware and software configuration management tools, best practices, and industry standards. * Demonstrated ability to influence and direct project teams on proper configuration control for major programs or multiple smaller programs. * Experience of PLM/MRP/ERP Tools such as Windchill and SAP. * Experience with All Change * Experience with ALM tools such as Polarion (Desired). * Ability to think strategically about configuration management in support of engineering design and product support. * Proven experience within Configuration management and some leadership experience would be beneficial.
