Are you an experienced Quality Engineer looking for a new role?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing manufacturing business based at their site in Merthyr Tydfil where you will manage and control Quality Systems and documentation to customer specifications. The ideal candidate will be interested in supporting the business within some areas of Health and Safety also.

Role: Quality Engineer/Health and Safety Co-ordinator

Salary: £36,500

Location: Merthyr Tydfil

Hours of work: 8am - 5pm Monday to Thursday, Friday 8am - 12midday

Role Responsibilities:

  • Advising of requirements and effectiveness of the management systems, Quality and HSE performance.
  • Internal Quality Complaints/issues.
  • Inspection of products across shop floor, goods inwards and final inspection of assemblies.
  • Raising non-conformance issues with immediate manager and recommending appropriate containment and corrective actions. Produce NCR Reports.
  • Assemble and test products to ensure conformance to quality standards.
  • Ensure that all measurement systems are calibrated and serviced.
  • Performing internal, system, process, and supplier audits.
  • Support with customer complaints / returns / process issues using 8D analysis techniques to determine root cause.
  • Carrying out Health and Safety Risk Assessments and Audits. Investigating, reporting, and documenting all accidents, incidents and near misses.

Successful Candidate:

  • Qualified in a Mechanical Engineering discipline is essential for this role.
  • Knowledge of HSE, Fire Marshall and First Aiders legislation would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001.
  • Proven experience of implementing lean and continual improvement tools such as 8D, 5S, Kaizen and Visual Management.
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings and use troubleshooting skills to identify and correct machining problems.
  • This role would suit a qualified Quality Engineer who has had some experience of working within Health & Safety and is looking to expand their experience and knowledge.
