Controls and Instrument Engineer /Technician

We are looking for a Controls and Instrument Engineer for our client who are one of the leading Mechanical and Electrical Companies in the UK.

The work will be based on a site in Aberdeenshire,Scotland.

The role holder reports to the Lead Maintenance Engineer and will provide C&I expertise and competence to deliver a high standard of work execution on station C&I equipment. They will ensure the safety, reliability, flexibility and efficiency of plant and equipment is maintained to meet the Company's requirements.

As a key member of the Maintenance Engineering team, the role holder is expected to make significant contributions to the delivery of the site maintenance and outage work scopes. Main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Day to day maintenance of station C&I assets including reactive and proactive work as instructed by the Maintenance Lead Technician's in conjunction with the planning team.
  • Contributing towards the delivery of projects
  • Any other tasks and projects as may be directed by the Lead Maintenance Engineer or Engineering Manager.
  • Provide mentorship support to C&I apprentices.

Requirements of the role :

  • Demonstrable experience in calibrating instrumentation.
  • Have experience working on and troubleshooting on a variety of field instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with the use of test equipment.
  • Sound experience in fault finding control circuits.
  • An ability to read and understand P&ID drawings and data sheets.
  • A recognised C&I apprenticeship.
  • National Certificate / Higher National Certificate in Control & Instrumentation.
  • Relevant experience in the power industry desirable but not essential.
  • Have a proactive attitude towards safety systems.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Computer literate i.e. Microsoft Packages & the ability to work within a Maintenance Management System.
  • An extensive training program will be in place for the successful candidate to align the required skill set to the business needs.

Contract role to March 2022.
