Role - OHL (Overhead Lines) Transmission Project Engineer
Location - Hybrid - Scotland - Site Visits Required
Start Date - ASAP
Duration - 6 Month Initial Contract + Possible Extensions
Rates - £650 Daily Rate Inside IR35 via Umbrella



The key duties & responsibilities will be:

  • To act as discipline overhead line engineer for major 400kV, 275kV and 132kV Transmission projects
  • To take on a Lead Project Engineering Role on some Projects, leading on engineering governance and the co-ordination of all Engineering Disciplines.
  • Act as the point of contact for overhead line engineering and represent engineering at key strategic, commercial, programme and site project meetings.
  • Support and assist others in the project team around managing engineering risks and utilising opportunities for the project to excel.
  • Provide technical support and expertise throughout the life of projects supported by a Senior Overhead Line Engineer on technical aspects and report into an Engineering Manager.
  • Review of DRD & Options Assessment
  • OHL Design Specification
  • OHL Routing & input into Planning documentation
  • Initial OHL Design
  • Programme input & Risk Assessment
  • Engineering Meetings
  • Input into Design Management Plan
  • Design Assurance for detailed design produced by D&B Contractor


To be considered for this role:

  • Full UK Working Rights
  • Full Clean UK Drivers License
  • 5+ years technical experience working on the Transmission Overhead Line Network and knowledge of the UK legal and regulatory obligations for Transmission including and CDM & ESQCR.
  • Previous experience leading a technical team through both the development and delivery stages
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise demands and assist others to find their path past difficult obstacles.
  • High level of communication skill and ability to deliver messages and information at the appropriate level both up and down the management structure.
  • Ability to explore design options and apply technical, evidence-based rigour to assess the best solution.
  • A technical degree or HND would be an advantage - not essential
