Our client is looking for a manager city development to join their team on a temporary contract of up to 6 months. In this role you will play a significant role in developing an environment where Southampton is chosen over other cities as a place to work and reside. Successful design and implementation of a major property investments in the City in general and the City Centre in particular, to sustain and enhance Southampton position as a regional centre.

Key responsibilities:

  • To lead on a portfolio of major property development projects and to head-up inter-disciplinary (and sometimes cross-organisational) project teams charged with implementing them.
  • Advice to Members on the nature, level and provision of projects required by the Council to achieve objectives for the City, the City Centre in particular, and the advancement of the City and city region in general
  • Management of a Project Support Officer and seconded staff and consultants as appropriate
  • To undertake identification, design, appraisal, implementation, monitoring and evaluation exercises. To liaise closely with potential developers and inward investors in the promotion of property development schemes and with the private sector in general

You will need:

  • Degree level education with professional qualification (RICS)
  • Demonstrable experience in initiating and delivering complex property development and regeneration projects

  • Proven experience of managing a project budgets and operating in accordance with financial policy and requirements

  • Ability to produce high quality development briefs, and to support partners to generate development proposals that accord with the council's development frameworks and aspirations
  • Ability to negotiate effectively; resolving conflict, securing commitment from stakeholders and funding for projects
