Our client are a leading manufacturer of power generation equipment on a global scale.

We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to be based out of their Bedford Depot to be responsible for the maintenance and repair of power and temperature control equipment.

Your key responsibilities:

  • A & B service as per standard work instructions
  • Be able to carry out control equipment parameter change
  • Possess basic mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Be able to carry out generator to generator synchronising
  • Be conversant with technical data and schematics
  • Carry out minor repairs
  • Attend equipment breakdowns
  • Basic electrical fault finding < 1500v dc and <1000v ac
  • Be able to operate fleet load bank
  • Low voltage switching
  • Low voltage maintenance
  • Low voltage isolation
  • Low voltage commissioning
  • Carry out main alternator maintenance process
  • A service oil fired heaters as per standard work instructions
  • A service Oil fired boilers as per standard work instructions
  • Basic Moisture Control (dehumidifiers, electric heaters, oil-fired heaters & oil-fired boilers) installation
  • Basic Temperature Control (chillers, pumps & air-handling units) installation
  • Basic Temperature Controls operation

Education / Qualifications

  • Mechanical and/or Electrical apprenticeship Alternatively, City & Guilds/ NVQ or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • If not qualified to above standard, person must still have a good grounding in mechanical engineering and be willing to undertake training to attain these qualifications

  • Technical capability (power and ideally temperature control)
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good level of PC literacy including basic MS Office applications
  • Flexible and adaptable approach
  • Positive outlook
  • Results oriented with a 'can do' attitude, must thrive on success
