
We are looking for a Site Construction Manager to be based on-site in Westminster, on a long-term contract basis with our trusted partner. You will be working on a highly prestigious project and must be flexible with working any day of the week up to 12 hours per day. Our client is a leading fit out company which is part of a large multi-disciplinary main contractor in UK. They deliver vital projects across a range of sectors including health, education, highways, justice, defence, aviation, water and environment. As a UK regional contractor, they provide specialist design and build capabilities and are experienced at project management and integrating all aspects of a project.Project Scope: The Church House is the home of the headquarters of the Church of England, occupying the south end of Dean's Yard next to Westminster Abbey in London. This is a prestigious Grade II listed multi-purpose event and conference venue, hosting almost 1,000 unique events a year. This is a unique project and requires an 'outside the box' thinker. Works include but are not limited to: office fitout, front reception, demolition, toilets and shop fitting. Working days: Working days vary and require flexibility. They aim to work 6 days per week on site, including weekend days, however sometimes this could even increase to 7 days per week. Your day off could be any day of the week - not necessarily a weekend day. Working hours: standard site hours are 07:00 to 17:00 with occasional overtime required until 19:00Responsibilities
- Being proactive in the identification and resolution of problems
- Reading and understanding drawings and demonstrating an excellent understanding of the project
- Monitor project deliverables and ensure client objectives are met
- Coordinating all fitout activities including M&E package
- Leading regular site meetings with project team
- Maintaining strict quality control procedures
- Conducting regular site safety checks
- Ensuring the project runs to program and to budget
- Ensuring the project team comply with the Companies Business Management System
- Reviewing methods of working, alternative materials etc in order to maximise commercial profitability
- Maintaining effective long-term relationships with the customer and their representatives/advisors
- Leading the implementation and maintenance of Company strategy and policies for Sustainability, Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental, Training & Development etc and acting as an exemplar of the Company culture and values
- Monitoring, supporting, mentoring and counselling members of the project team in their personal development
- Seeking and developing on going continuous improvement
- Weekly review of progress against Target Programme
- Ensure that short term programmes prepared and agreed with supply chain
- Attendance at monthly CVR meetings
- Keeping good records - Diaries, Labour Returns, Weekly/Monthly reports
- Writing reports and ensuring high level of quality whilst adhering to all HSE & quality standards
- Resource allocation and management of site staff and sub-contractors, including site inductions
- Ensure program schedule is maintained
- Carrying out regular inspections to monitor performance
- Contribute to work planning, and briefing project teams, contractors, and suppliers
- Any other duties relevant to the role
Requirements
- Must have excellent attention to detail and a positive 'can-do' attitude
- Valid CSCS card (black or white)
- NVQ level 6 or NVQ level 7
- Valid SMSTS
- Valid First Aid at Work certificate
- Asbestos Awareness
- PASMA (desirable)
- Previous experience and technical expertise in large public sector /commercial fitouts
- Delegation and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and organisation
- Planning and scheduling skills
- Extensive knowledge of operational safety systems
- Computer literate
- DBS Check
- BPSS security clearance (can be applied for upon offer)
