Chris Blackburn, Director of Skills Growth at Impellam Group, was recently named a finalist and received high commendation in the Skills Champion category for the Yorkshire and Humber Region at the Apprenticeships and Skills Awards.

Now in its 21st year, the awards were established to celebrate the achievements of apprentices and those who champion apprenticeship programs. Judges look for individuals who "actively promote apprenticeships and skills, going beyond their usual roles to advocate these pathways as outstanding career options."

On receiving the recognition, Chris expressed, "I’m incredibly honored to have been highly commended in this category. The journey has been remarkable, and to be acknowledged alongside such inspiring people makes it even more special. Together, we are driving change, promoting early careers, and helping others carve their own paths."

This is Chris’s second accolade in 2024, following his receipt of the ‘Biggest Impact to the Network’ award from the Yorkshire and Humber Apprenticeship Ambassador Network. He earned this recognition for his leadership in guiding apprentices through presentations, career events, workshops, and social media campaigns.
