Buildings and Construction UK Buyer

Location: Broughton - minimum 3 days a week in the office, Tuesday and Thursday mandatory
Contract: Until 31/12/2026 (with potential extension)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Pay Rate: Scaled pay depending on experience around £28-30ph PAYE
Security Clearance: BPSS
Travel: Potential for travel to other UK sites (limited)

About the Role

Join our Procurement team as a Buildings and Construction UK Buyer, supporting strategic procurement activities within the Buildings UK team. You'll work on multi-divisional and international projects, ensuring the delivery of goods and services that meet requirements and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement procurement strategies defined by Commodity Procurement Management and Project Multi-Functional Teams (MFT).
  • Manage procurement projects and tenders with multi-divisional and international scope, including Building sub-commodity PJRB.
  • Develop and maintain an efficient supply chain to deliver goods/services in line with contractual terms (cost, time, quality).
  • Secure long-term alignment of the preferred supplier base with strategic needs.
  • Maintain continuous commercial relationships with suppliers, protecting the firm from contractual risks.
  • Conduct procurement processes in compliance with General Procurement procedures and guidelines.
  • Deliver on initiatives contributing to Savings Programmes through requirements harmonisation, specification challenge, volume aggregation, and demand control.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams for national and international procurement projects.
  • Negotiate, establish, and implement national & international frame contracts.
  • Monitor and review contracts, evaluate supplier performance, and initiate recovery actions when necessary.
  • Provide rules and process information to Business Operations for correct execution of transactional procurement activities.
  • Participate in defining procurement strategies through bench marking, costing, and "make or buy" analysis.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new procurement techniques (e.g., e-procurement, e-catalogues).
  • Monitor savings linked to demand management and procurement performance.

Additional Information

  • Support long-term projects, including new initiatives in Belfast.
  • Contribute to sourcing activities, manage tendering and contract negotiation to achieve optimal purchasing conditions.
  • Manage day-to-day supplier relationships and running projects to optimize customer value and minimize total cost of ownership and risks.
  • Work closely with Multifunctional/Multidivisional teams throughout the tendering, contracting, and contract life cycle phases.

About You

  • Experience in procurement within construction or manufacturing industries is highly desirable.
  • Strong negotiation, supplier management, and contract management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional and multi-divisional teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • No mandatory qualifications required; relevant experience is valued.
