📍 South East England | Hybrid (2 days/week in office)
🗓️ Start: 5 Jan 2026 | Duration: 12 Months
💰 £30-£40/hr (DOE) | Outside IR35
🕒 37 hours/week | Full UK Working Rights + DBS Required
Are you a seasoned Highways Design Engineer with a strong track record in local council authority schemes? Ready to shape infrastructure that makes a real impact?
We're hiring on behalf of a respected client in the South East for a design-led role that blends technical expertise with stakeholder collaboration.

🔍 What You'll Be Doing:

• Designing highway schemes from concept to detailed design
• Preparing contract documents and supporting construction phases
• Planning and programming small-scale schemes
• Estimating and managing project costs and consultant fees
• Ensuring Health & Safety and sustainability are built into every solution
• Liaising with developers, planners, and consultants on Section 38 & 278 agreements
• Reviewing and checking detailed submissions for compliance and adoptability

🎯 What You'll Bring:

• RQF Level 4-6 in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• Proven experience in highways, infrastructure, and civil engineering design
• Strong knowledge of relevant specs, policies, and procedures
• Proficiency in CAD tools (Civil 3D, MX, AutoCAD)
• A proactive mindset and collaborative approach
