BIM Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled BIM Technician to support the development, coordination, and delivery of BIM models and digital information across multi-disciplinary construction design projects. The successful candidate will work closely with design teams, project managers, and the BIM Manager to ensure the accurate production, integration, and maintenance of 3D models and associated data in line with company standards, client requirements, and ISO 19650 processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce, develop, and maintain 3D BIM models using approved authoring tools, ensuring compliance with project BIM Execution Plans (BEP) and company standards.
  • Assist in the coordination of architectural, structural, and MEP models, identifying clashes and supporting resolution through collaboration with design teams.
  • Prepare 2D and 3D drawings, schedules, and model outputs required for design, tender, and construction stages.
  • Support the integration of model data with asset information requirements, including COBie and other structured datasets.
  • Contribute to maintaining model version control, ensuring updates are accurately recorded and distributed.
  • Work collaboratively with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure timely receipt and integration of design model information.
  • Assist project teams in the correct application of BIM standards, workflows, and modelling best practices.
  • Support the BIM Manager in implementing digital processes, quality checks, and model validation against project requirements.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and support the production of clash detection reports, issue tracking, and model review outputs.
  • Provide day-to-day support to project staff in the use of BIM tools and digital design processes.
  • Ensure secure handling of sensitive documents, including setting user permissions and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Support audits, quality checks, and compliance reviews to maintain BIM Level 2/ISO 19650 accreditation.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety responsibilities and company policies.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of BIM processes within the ISO 19650 framework.
  • Proficiency in BIM authoring tools (e.g., Revit, ArchiCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks).
  • Experience supporting model coordination and clash detection.
  • Good understanding of multi-disciplinary design processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with COBie and asset information management.
