Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 + £5,600 annual car allowance + benefits
Additional: Weekly living allowance for eligible candidates

About the Role
My client is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead and coordinate mechanical and piping installation activities within their major UK energy infrastructure project.
This is a pivotal site‑based role responsible for ensuring safe, high‑quality, and timely execution of all mechanical and piping works. You will provide hands‑on leadership to supervisors, contractors, and craft teams while maintaining strong control over progress, compliance, quality, and stakeholder coordination.
Candidates must bring a strong background in complex mechanical installations, ideally within highly regulated sectors such as nuclear, energy, or major infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership of Construction Activities
- Direct and coordinate mechanical and piping installation works across multiple site areas.
- Provide daily leadership to supervisors, inspectors, and craft personnel.
- Maintain a visible presence in the field to monitor work fronts, resolve issues, and promote safe execution.
Planning and Coordination
- Support development and maintenance of lookahead programmes aligned with agreed milestones.
- Coordinate with other disciplines, contractors, and client representatives.
- Ensure availability of materials, equipment, and resources to meet installation targets.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Champion a strong nuclear safety culture and enforce my client's safety standards.
- Ensure all works comply with QA/QC requirements, technical specifications, and regulatory frameworks.
- Lead toolbox talks, review RAMS, and drive continual improvement in safety behaviour.
Progress Monitoring and Reporting
- Track progress against plan, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Provide clear daily and weekly reporting to the Site Manager.
- Support change management, NCR resolution, and documentation control processes.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders, contractors, and internal teams.
- Represent my client professionally during coordination meetings and site walkdowns.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Level 6 Construction Management and/or Level 7 Senior Construction Management qualification (or equivalent).
- Proven background leading mechanical and piping installation on large‑scale industrial or energy projects
- Leadership experience managing construction operations in a complex, multi‑contractor environment.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, sequencing, and installation best practice.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with nuclear safety culture, quality standards, and regulatory frameworks.
- Relevant trade or engineering qualification (HNC/HND or degree preferred).
Skills & Attributes
Technical Skills
- Solid understanding of piping systems (small and large bore), installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Knowledge of CDM and UK health & safety legislation.
- Experience administering NEC or similar contracts.
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Project.
