Are you a safety-conscious professional with a passion for maintaining a secure work environment? This leading university in the heart of London is seeking a talented Interim Health and Safety Lead (Projects) to play a crucial role in overseeing and supporting health and safety compliance across their diverse range of construction, maintenance, and facilities projects.

This is a contract position running until mid August, working hours are Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm (36.5 hours per week)


As the Health and Safety Lead, you will be responsible for:

1. Providing expert advice and assistance to project teams, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices.
2. Collaborating with key stakeholders to develop and implement robust safety standards, processes, and procedures.
3. Monitoring adherence to CDM 2015 regulations and supporting the client's duties under the law.
4. Fostering a strong, visible safety culture through site engagement, behavior-based leadership, and ongoing dialogue.
5. Embedding "Safety in Design" principles in the early stages of planning and design.
6. Auditing, inspecting, and analysing safety performance data to identify trends and develop targeted mitigation strategies.
7. Delivering training and safety briefings tailored to the unique needs of the university environment.
8. Liaising with internal health and safety colleagues to align with the overall safety strategy.

To excel in this role, you will need to be a Chartered Member of the Institute of Safety and Health (CMIOSH) with a NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction Certificate. Extensive experience in interpreting and applying complex construction health and safety requirements, as well as a strong understanding of the Construction, Design, and Management (CDM) Regulations, is essential.
