Mechanical Fitter/Engineer

Carbon60 is looking to recruit a Mechanical Fitter/Engineer to work for our client based in Blackburn, UK .

ROLE: Mechanical Fitter/Engineer

PAY RATE: £16.34 per hour

JOB TYPE: Temporary to Permanent

LOCATION: Blackburn, UK (BB2)

HOURS: 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday

THE ROLE:
Main duties & responsibilities:

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on mechanical building services.
• Inspect, repair, and fault-find on HVAC and mechanical plant including AHUs, FCUs, LTHW, pumps, pipework, valves, and water/heating systems.
• Support minor installations, upgrades, and adaptation works.
• Diagnose faults safely and carry out on-site risk assessments.
• Operate tools and equipment in line with health & safety and infection control standards.
• Maintain accurate job records and complete required documentation.
• Liaise with hospital departments to minimise disruption during works.
• Work collaboratively with other trades and estates teams.
• Participate in callout/standby rota when required.
• Deliver work within agreed timeframes and service standards.

Essential skills / experience / qualifications:

• ONC / City & Guilds (or equivalent) in a relevant mechanical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' commercial/industrial building services maintenance experience.
• Strong experience with HVAC/mechanical systems (AHUs, ventilation, FCUs, LTHW, pumps, pipework, valves).
• Gas/plumbing maintenance background.
• Good understanding of health & safety and safe systems of work.
• Ability to read technical drawings and method statements.
• Risk assessment awareness and fault-finding capability.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
