Senior Quantity Surveyor - Major Industrial Project (Saltend, Hull)


Location: Saltend, Hull

Contract Type: Ongoing Project

A leading engineering and maintenance provider operating across multiple highly regulated sectors is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a major project at Saltend in Hull.

This organisation works within industries including chemical & petrochemical, nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, power & energy, utilities, renewables and food & beverage, delivering full life‑cycle project support from consulting through to decommissioning.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established Senior QS to join a high‑performing commercial team on a significant industrial project.


Role Responsibilities


As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for a wide range of commercial and cost‑management duties, including:

  • Month‑end Auto‑WIP & journal returns
  • Co‑ordination of AFC and internal rolling forecasts
  • Providing commercial data for monthly project reports
  • Reviewing Early Warning (EW) notifications and managing responses
  • Liaising with the client on compensation events, payment queries, and disallowed items
  • Conducting cost analysis using SAP and Power BI
  • Supporting the Commercial Manager in preparing Project Board Reports
  • Calculating BOQ star rates and remeasuring BOQ
  • Updating commercial registers (CE, EW, plant, sales invoices, etc.)
  • Drafting formal notifications and letters
  • Overseeing subcontract management processes
  • Conducting value analysis (SOR, FP, dayworks)
  • Managing change processes: notification, quotation, agreement of Compensation Events
  • Preparing payment applications and invoicing
  • Identifying opportunities to improve project margins

Experience & Skills Required


To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Strong working knowledge of the NAECI Agreement
  • Experience working on major construction or industrial projects
  • Solid understanding of NEC4 Option B contracts
  • Knowledge of the Standard Method of Measurement
  • Basic working knowledge of P6 programmes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using SAP and/or Power BI (advantageous)
