Technical Shopfloor Engineer (Aerospace Manufacturing)

Location: Broughton, North Wales (Onsite)
Contract: Inside IR35
Rate:

  • £26.92 per hour PAYE
  • £36.00 per hour Umbrella
    IR35: Off‑payroll working rules apply
    Shift Pattern: Double Day Shift (20% shift uplift)

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Technical Shopfloor Engineer to join a high‑volume manufacturing environment supporting production operations at shopfloor level. This is an onsite contract role within a complex, regulated engineering setting, offering long‑term stability and the opportunity to contribute directly to operational excellence.

The successful candidate will work closely with production teams and autonomous production units, providing hands‑on technical support and problem‑solving expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support production teams and Autonomous Production Teams (APT) on the shopfloor
  • Identify, analyse and resolve technical issues beyond operator and first‑line management capability
  • Provide an end‑to‑end technical perspective within the manufacturing environment
  • Support continuous production enablement through effective use of available resources and knowledge
  • Contribute to operational excellence and continuous improvement activities
  • Support identification and reduction of non‑conformances on the shopfloor

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven manufacturing or production engineering experience (experience valued over qualifications)
  • Experience working within regulated environments and to defined procedures
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and proactively in a fast‑paced environment
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Understanding of product safety and customer focus principles
  • HNC or equivalent qualification desirable but not essential

Work Pattern & Benefits

  • Alternating weekly shifts (Monday-Friday):
    • Morning: 06:00 - 13:10
    • Afternoon: 13:30 - 20:40
  • 20% shift uplift
  • Paid overtime over 35 hours
    • 25% uplift Monday-Friday
    • 50% uplift Saturday-Sunday
