Field Application Engineer

Are you an engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges, working directly with customers, and influencing next‑generation embedded solutions? This is a high‑impact, customer‑facing position where you'll act as the critical technical bridge between engineering, sales, and end users-ensuring successful integration of advanced embedded computing technologies into real‑world systems.

This will be predominantly a home based role with travel across the UK and Europe.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Act as the technical liaison, translating customer needs into clear engineering requirements.
  • Support customers through the full lifecycle: analysis, design, integration, manufacturing, installation, and long‑term support.
  • Assess solutions and prepare detailed product specifications to meet technical requirements.
  • Guide sales and customer service to ensure the right products are selected.
  • Create and implement installation plans for complex embedded systems.
  • Test, install, troubleshoot, and provide recommendations for product improvement.
  • Deliver training, documentation, and after‑sales support to enhance user experience.
  • Gather field intelligence and share insights on market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity.
  • Collaborate with R&D to influence new features, enhancements, and product innovation.
  • Contribute ideas for new software and solutions to fill market gaps.
  • Build and maintain strong, trust‑based customer and supplier relationships.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3+ years' experience in systems engineering, hardware/software integration, or embedded systems.
  • Practical experience with RTOS such as VxWorks or Linux.
  • Working knowledge of C/C++, plus strong diagnostic/problem‑solving skills.
  • Understanding of analogue/RF circuits and electronics fundamentals.
  • Strong background inopen‑architecture platforms such as:
    • SOSA, MOSA, VME, VPX, CPCI, PCIe
    • Networking, Graphics, Signal Processing, FPGA
    • PowerPC and Intel architectures
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Highly organised, analytical, self‑motivated and able to juggle multiple priorities.
