Senior Construction Manager - HVDC / Transmission Infrastructure


An opportunity is available for a Senior Construction Manager to support the delivery of major HVDC transmission infrastructure projects as part of a long‑term strategic investment programme. The role is site‑focused and responsible for leading civils works packages associated with onshore AC substations and HVDC converter stations, working closely with project leadership, multidisciplinary teams and framework supply chain partners.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the senior site‑based representative, providing leadership and interface with contractors and key stakeholders
  • Ensure all site activities comply with statutory legislation, CDM 2015 and health, safety and environmental standards
  • Lead and coordinate contractors to deliver works safely, to programme and within defined quality standards
  • Monitor compliance with planning consents, H&S requirements and performance KPIs, maintaining regular reporting
  • Champion a positive safety culture and strong working relationships across site teams, suppliers and local stakeholders


Experience & Knowledge:

  • Significant experience in on‑site construction leadership within civils or infrastructure environments
  • Proven delivery of electricity transmission projects, including AC substations and/or HVDC converter stations
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM 2015 and high‑risk construction safety management
  • Experience managing multiple contractors and quality assurance via inspection and test plans
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence essential due to site travel
