Carbon60 is looking to recruit a Handyperson to work for our specialised industrial client based in Andover, UK.

ROLE: Handyperson

PAY RATE: £ 15.63 PAYE

JOB TYPE: 3 Months contract

LOCATION: Andover, UK SP11

HOURS: 40 hours per week - 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM

THE ROLE:
Main duties & responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities across the estate.
  • Perform general building maintenance including basic plumbing, electrical work (where competent), carpentry, painting, decorating, wall repairs, carpet fitting, gutter clearance, and drainage maintenance.
  • Complete water hygiene (L8), emergency lighting, fire door, meter reading, and other statutory compliance checks.
  • Attend reactive breakdowns and ensure work orders are completed within agreed service levels.
  • Supervise specialist subcontractors, monitor permits to work, and report any issues or non-compliance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, compliance documentation, and statutory records.
  • Support stock monitoring and ordering processes.
  • Assist with deliveries, furniture assembly, appliance installation, desk moves, office relocations, and landscaping duties.
  • Ensure plant rooms, common areas, and storage areas remain safe, clean, and tidy.
  • Build positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and operational teams.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, and customer service across all sites.
  • Participate in the on-call rota and provide flexible support to meet operational requirements.


Essential skills / experience / qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a Handyperson, Maintenance Operative, Facilities Assistant, Building Maintenance, Caretaker, or similar Facilities Management role.
  • Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance works.
  • Good all-round building maintenance skills including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, decorating, building repairs, and general handyman tasks.
  • Understanding of Facilities Management (FM) environments and maintenance operations.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, customer-facing or operational environments.
  • Ability to work independently, manage workload effectively, and prioritise tasks.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with customers, contractors, specialists, and operational teams.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to update maintenance records electronically.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe systems of work.
  • Understanding of compliance activities such as fire door inspections, water hygiene/L8 checks, emergency lighting checks, and statutory maintenance requirements.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • IOSH Working Safely qualification.
  • Ability to undertake physical duties including lifting, deliveries, site maintenance, and manual handling activities.
  • Flexible approach to work, willingness to participate in the on-call rota, and support multiple sites as required.
  • Desirable but highly advantageous: experience with Legionella control measures, permit-to-work systems, subcontractor supervision, basic electrical maintenance, report writing, root cause problem-solving, landscaping duties, and working within regulated or critical environments.
