Electrical Maintenance Technician (Shift)


Location: North East England
Salary: Competitive basic salary with shift allowance, competency-based pay progression and performance-related bonus.

The Opportunity


A leading UK industrial manufacturer is looking to recruit an Electrical Maintenance Technician to join its engineering team on a continental shift pattern. This position supports the ongoing operation of a large-scale manufacturing facility, ensuring electrical systems and equipment remain safe, reliable and efficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive electrical maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical faults to minimise production downtime.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across plant and control systems.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with site procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and deliver robust, long-term repairs.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplined engineering team to support production operations.

Requirements

  • Completed electrical apprenticeship or recognised electrical maintenance qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability within an industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.

Desirable Experience

  • Industrial electrical installation and maintenance.
  • PLC systems, including Siemens and Allen Bradley platforms.
  • HMI troubleshooting and support.
  • AC/DC motors, gearboxes and drive systems.
  • Variable speed drives, inverters and converters.
  • Overhead cranes and associated safety systems.
  • Safety-related control systems.

Working Pattern

  • Continental shift pattern consisting of 12-hour days and nights.
  • Rotating schedule of days, nights and rest periods.
