Exciting Opportunity: MATERIALS AND PROCESS LABORATORY ENGINEER

Rate: £40PH via an Umbrella

Duration: 6-Months (Potential Extension)

Location: Stevenage

This company is seeking a skilled MATERIALS AND PROCESS LABORATORY ENGINEER to play a crucial role in ensuring their products meet the highest technical, cost, and reliability standards.

About the Role

As the MATERIALS AND PROCESS LABORATORY ENGINEER, you will be responsible for a wide-ranging assessment of materials, including metals, paints, adhesives, composites, and related processes. This is a hands-on role that will involve working with a variety of lab equipment and techniques, such as XRF, FTIR, SEM, and EDX.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting all aspects of the materials lab, including failure investigations, materials selection, and supply chain support
  • Reviewing first article inspection reports and conducting material inspection and characterisation
  • Generating or assessing compliance data, such as REACh and RoHS requirements
  • Preparing detailed reports and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate for this MATERIALS AND PROCESS LABORATORY ENGINEER role will have:

  • Extensive experience in a manufacturing laboratory environment
  • Familiarity with assessing materials and components to established international standards, including DEF STANs
  • Knowledge of non-metallic material production and processing, including paints and adhesives
  • Strong background in materials chemistry and a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
