Mechanical Fitter

Location: Regional Hub, Unit 2 Burton Rd, Norwich, NR6 6AX

Start Date: ASAP

Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter ready to join a high-performing team in a fast-paced industrial environment? Our Norwich Regional Hub is looking for a skilled and motivated individual to carry out high-quality repairs and maintenance on a variety of rotating equipment.

Salary & Benefits

  • Band 2: £15.77/hr - £31,981.50/year
  • Band 3: £17.37/hr - £35,209.52/year
  • Band 4: £18.79/hr - £38,093.52/year
  • Overtime Opportunities:
    • 1.5x (Mon-Sat), 2x (Sun)
    • Voluntary Call-Out Rota:
      • Typically 1 in 5 pattern
      • £25/day (Mon-Fri), £50/day (Weekend) + minimum 4 hours paid at overtime rates
      • Additional £40 payout if supporting another engineer during call-out

Working Hours

  • Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Friday: 8:00am - 3:30pm
  • Lunch Break: 30 minutes
  • Total: 39 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair and service a wide range of industrial rotating equipment:
    • AC/DC Motors, Motorised Gearboxes, Pumps, Fan Units, Generators, etc.
  • Diagnose faults and repair or replace worn/damaged components
  • Conduct basic electrical testing (training and assessment provided)
  • Work on jobs varying in size - from small fans to large mill motors
  • Participate in a voluntary call-out rota as part of a team
  • Occasionally travel to sites using a company-provided vehicle
  • Maintain high health & safety standards at all times

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence (Clean & Valid)
  • NVQ Level 3, ONC, HNC, City & Guilds, or Time-Served equivalent
  • Strong practical mechanical engineering background
  • Capable of interpreting engineering technical drawings
  • Physically fit to meet role demands
  • Manual machining/lathe experience advantageous
  • CCNSG Safety Passport and site experience preferred
