Role: Substation Project Engineer
Sector: Transmission
Location: Glasgow / Hybrid / Travel Required to Site(s) & Office Attendance
Start Date: July 2025
Duration: 6-Months + Possible Extension
Rates: £750 Daily Rate Inside IR35 via Umbrella
Clearance: BPSS (DBS/DS, Financial Probity, Employment History) + Medical Questionnaire & Proof of Right to Work in the UK

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Creating outline scope, site location plans, primary plant layout and Single Line Diagrams for new build and asset replacement type projects, operating up to 400kV.
  • Reviewing contractor/consultants detailed designs and witnessing Factory Acceptance Testing.
  • Implementing safety by design principles to ensure that engineering and safety risks are adequately controlled.
  • Support site and operational teams to ensure the quality of installations, with minimal risk to Network security.
  • Evaluate tenders and procure and manage specialist services from consultants


Essential Qualifications/skill set required:

  • Candidates must be degree qualified electrical engineers to be considered for this role.
  • Previous Transmission experience required.
  • A minimum of 3+ Years substation project engineer experience up to 400kV
  • Proven experience in high-voltage substation design, operation, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in project management
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations
