Job title: Head of Health, Safety and Security
Location: Birmingham or London
Role of Department:
- To set the strategic direction, policy and systems in relation to Health, Safety, Environmental Management, Security, Quality and Assurance.
- To provide assurance to the Executive and Board, lead major strategic projects and offer expert advice to the business.
Accountabilities:
- To be responsible for providing strategic health, safety and environmental management advice and support to leadership and delivery teams.
- To be accountable for providing leadership and overseeing the functional line management of embedded QHSSE Managers within Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) and those that support other development and delivery areas.
- To be responsible for providing support to leadership on the Safe Decision Making and Common Safety Method for Risk evaluation and Assessment (CSM-RA) compliance requirements.
- To be accountable for validating and approving subcontractor Health, Safety and Security (HSS) Performance (pre-contract award) and support sub-contractor on-boarding.

Knowledge:
- All aspects of health and safety, including occupational health, health and safety elements of the Works Information and Environment Management policies, procedures and processes.
- Analytical skills - being able to analyse data to review incidents and trends to guide action.
Type of Experience:
- Experience of leading Health and Safety in a high-risk environment (i.e. a regulated industry - which may include but is not limited to nuclear, construction, airlines, etc).
- Experience in leading health, safety, well-being, security, environment and sustainability collaboratively with clients and supply chain.
- A professional qualification in Health and Safety or able to demonstrate the equivalent experience of a Chartered Member.
Dimensions
- Up to five direct reports
- Up to eight indirect reports (dependent on programme needs)
- Relationship management with joint venture partners
