Job Opportunity: Electrical Design Engineer - Laboratory Test Means
📍 Location: Filton (Minimum 60% onsite)
🕒 Contract Duration: Until 30th March 2026 (with potential for extension)
💼 IR35 Status: Off-payroll working rules apply
💰 Rate: Up to £45.00/hr (Umbrella) | Up to £34.02/hr (PAYE)
🛂 Security Clearance: BPSS+ (to be completed by Airbus Security)
🌍 Travel: Occasional travel within Europe may be required
🕓 Working Hours: 35 hours/week (4.5-day week, flexible between 7am-7pm)
About the Role
Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join its Test Centre team in Filton. This role focuses on the development of cutting-edge test means for hydrogen testing, including new test benches and facilities. You'll be part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team within Test Means Architecture & Integration, contributing to the future of sustainable aviation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop architectures for data acquisition and control systems.
- Create electrical schematics for components and systems.
- Specify instrumentation for various measurements (e.g., pressure, flow, voltage, current).
- Produce detailed requirements and specification documentation.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proficiency in electrical design tools (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, KiCad).
- Strong understanding of electrical design principles and systems.
- Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, and control systems.
- Familiarity with avionic data buses (A429, CAN, AFDX) and hardware interfaces (discretes, analogues).
- Knowledge of testing principles and electrical architecture design.
- Collaborative mindset with a strong team spirit and adaptability.
